Ulrike Grote and Ilona Schultz comprise the Fortune Cookie Film GmbH. Having met during their studies at the Hamburg Film School, they have been filming and producing under the label of their joint company since 2006. Ulrike Grote, back then already an outstanding theatre- and film actress with multiple awards to her name, began to study directing under Hark Bohm. Already her graduation film “Runaway” was able to win the student Oscar and was also nominated for the short film Oscar. Ilona Schultz, who worked as a production manager for the event and TV show business, eventually switched to fictional entertainment. Both filmmakers are united in their passion for storytelling, the urge to discover strong characters, the need to draw real stories and, last but not least, their good sense of humour. To tell the essential with a twinkle in the eye – that is the strength of every Fortune Cookie Production.

Already during her studies at the Bauhaus University of Weimar Nina Avramova, who was raised and educated in Sofia, Bulgaria, has organized a short film festival featuring productions from Eastern Europe. Earlier in her career she has worked as a production assistant, casting director and assistant director for several TV series before she joined „Fortune Cookie Film Production“ in 2012. Additional to her work at the Hamburg based film production she translates scripts and dialoque books from Bulgarian into German and vice versa.
